PDILG REVIEWS SGLG VALIDATION OF SUMISIP MUNICIPALITY

Sumisip, Basilan- The Provincial Department of Interior and Local Government (PDILG) conducted Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) dry-run validation for Sumisip Municipality, Basilan Province on August 16, 2018 at Municipal Complex, Buli- Buli, Sumisip, Basilan Province.

About three (3) personnel from the DILG and the Municipal Department heads joined together to review the governance performance from the month of January 2017 to present of the Local Government Unit of Sumisip.

The SGLG is annually conducted by the national government through the PDILG to determine the performance of the Local Government Units (LGU’s) both the national and local LGU’s on how they govern and execute their mandate. Likewise, this is also a tool to exhaust ideas and wisdom on how to further improve governance down the line also to answer or to reply the delivery of basic social services to its constituents.

The Municipality of Sumisip is a recipient of last year’s SGLG award. So the joint team aimed to evaluate if the municipality’s performance still upholds its mandate and will still be an awardee of SGLG-2018.

SUMISIP CAPACITATE FOR DISASTER PREPAREDNESS


MDRRMO talks about disaster preparedness

Sumisip, Basilan- The Sumisip Local Government in collaboration with the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Office (PDRRMO), Provincial Department of Interior Local Government (PDILG), Red Cross, Philippines National Police (PNP), Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) conducted a re-orientation on disaster and risk reduction and management (DRRM) last August 14-15, 2018 at Municipal Complex, Buli-Buli, Sumisip, Basilan Province. The PDILG initiative “Operation Listo” has the tagline “Tamang paghahanda, tamang aksyon”.

Around twenty-five (25) stakeholders composed mainly of barangay officials and local non-government (NGOs) were in attendance to listen to DRMM policy and program updates. The participants used the activity to share their skills and experiences on disaster preparedness and mitigation.  

It was emphasized by PDDRMO for task holders to be always “listo” (alert) and in touch with local communities as disaster preparedness and mitigation is a collaborative effort.

During the event Municipal DRRM Officer Mr. Alex N. Handang collected the contact details of all partners and participants which will form as basis for hot-lines inventory accessible to the public in the event of a disaster.
